Philanthropy, Prevent Child Abuse America

"I look forward to our events for Prevent Child Abuse America all year.
Not only have we been consistently recognized for our philanthropic achievements,
but it feels great to do meaningful work with your best friends by your side"

The Gamma Mu chapter of Sigma Delta Tau has been dedicated to raising awareness of child
abuse since our founding in 1989. By hosting several events throughout the year, including
our annual Walk to Keep Kids Safe and 5K to Prevent Child Abuse, we are able to raise funds and awareness for Prevent Child Abuse America,
or PCAA.

PCAA is a national organization dedicated to building awareness and educating the nation
on the severity of child abuse and neglect.
With the help of its nationwide chapters and dedicated volunteers, the organization is the nationwide leader in the effort against child abuse.

Pinwheels For Prevention
PCAA has named the pinwheel its national
symbol for child abuse and neglect prevention.
It represents Prevent Child Abuse America's
efforts to change the way our nation thinks about prevention, focusing on community activities and public policies. The pinwheel campaign's goal is
to inspire hope and build awareness.

Gamma Mu Contribution, 2010-2011
The combined $7,500 raised by our chapter
in 2010-2011 will assist PCAA in providing programs that educate families on child abuse. Additionally, the funds will support PCAA in their efforts to advocate for legislation to protect our nation's children.

Additionally, Northeastern University presented our chapter with the award for Outstanding Excellence in Philanthropy for our dedicated efforts throughout the year.
