5K Run to Prevent Child Abuse

Our continued efforts to raise awareness and
funds for Prevent Child Abuse America peak each Fall when we hold our very own 5k Run to Prevent Child Abuse. This philanthropic event is open to
the public and has proven to be a success in its first 2 years! We have raised over $5,000 for
PCAA from this event alone so far, and we only
plan on continuing to grow.

History
Hosting a 5k in the Boston area was an event inspired by our sisters, Hannah McCulloch
and Taylor Weeks. Together, these two never stopped planning and working around the clock
in order to not only make this event happen, but succeed in making it an affair that would contribute substantially to our efforts in helping PCAA.
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of these two sisters, the Gamma Mu chapter is now able
to host this fun and charitable event annually.

Fall 2010
In October of 2010, Sigma Delta Tau held our
2nd Annual 5k run on the Charles River right in
the city of Boston. Approximately 150 Boston community members, Northeastern students, Gamma Mu sisters, and out of town-ers, showed up to run on a beautiful Fall day. Sig Delt sisters and brothers of the co-sponser fraternity, Alpha Delta Phi, cheered, held signs and offered
runners water for the duration of the run. At the commencement ceremony, awards were given
out to top runners in various categories. This fun and extremely successful event raised $3,600 for PCAA.
